Аннотация

The article analyzes the image of a Jew in the narratives about Holodomor (The Great Famine) of 1932–1933 in Ukraine. The particular attention is paid to the texts about “Torgsin” (the arconim of “trade with foreigners”) and the analysis of Ukrainian views about the relationship of Jews with the authorities and other participants of the discourse during that period. The following characteristics of a Jew in these narratives are distinguished: adaptable Jew (neutral, sometimes negative), Jew as an accomplice of government (sharply negative), Jew as a helper (positive) and Jew as a savior (strongly positive).
