Abstract

The article attempts to follow the evolution of the idea of “Zion” in Biblical texts as well as in texts from the post-Biblical period. The premise of the study is that the word “Zion” began its existence as a mythological toponym which became a metaphor and later materializes as a toponym and through that materialization transforms into a symbol.
